Books in Review ~ Dressmakers of Auschwitz

I was drawn to this book from the cover decorated with thread and title referenced my passion of sewing.  Lucy Adlington told the intertwined stores of the beautiful girls and women who survived only by continuing to sew.  The fabric, needles in-needles out and sewing in the dedicated salons provided safety from starvation, death and torture.  All things from the Jewish Stars, Nazi uniforms, high quality ball gowns, everyday dresses, children's clothing and prisoner uniforms were made by these beautiful and strong women.

The ladies performed alterations, fittings and repairs on the clothing of the same folks that were torturing, killing and hiding all of the horrible things that went on behind the fences, military force and gas chambers during WWII.
